It’s not always easy to find out which movies are hitting theaters each week, especially after the Hollywood strikes led to many release date changes. With the WGA and actors strikes resolved and awards season heating up, there are more dramas and prestige productions in theaters this month. December is also packed with family-friendly films and crowdpleasers for the holidays.

Emma Stone stars in Yorgos Lanthimos’ comedy fantasy “Poor Things,” which is hitting the big screen this week. Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe and Ramy Youssef round out the star-studded cast. For Broadway fans, catch the filmed performance of “Waitress: The Musical” with Sara Bareilles in theaters this week as well. Re-releases of “Love Actually” and “A Christmas Story” will also play in certain theaters, kicking off holiday season. Next week, gather all your favorite candy in preparation for Timothée Chalamet’s “Wonka.”

Check back each week to find the latest releases in theaters, from big-budget wide releases to niche independent titles.
