Sebastian Stan is playing young Donald Trump in a movie titled “The Apprentice” from Iranian filmmaker Ali Abbasi (“Holy Spider”), Variety can confirm.
The script, according to sources familiar with project, tells of a young Trump building his real estate empire in the 1970s and 1980s. Trump’s mentor and attorney Roy Cohn will also be a major character.
Gabriel Sherman, author of “The Loudest Voice in the Room: How the Brilliant, Bombastic Roger Ailes Built Fox News – and Divided a Country,” will write the film about Trump. His novel inspired the Showtime miniseries “The Loudest Voice,” which starred Russel Crowe as Roger Ailes.
